It is far less repetitive than the Monastic Diurnal, and a much fuller office than the LOTH. The language of the Psalms is beautiful and far better than the current translations for the LOTH (though the Abbey Psalms are much better than what used to be available).įor those who are looking for traditional language but don’t have the time to pray an English translation of the Roman Breviary in full, I highly recommend it. I love the scriptural readings at both Matins and Evensong, as well as the wide variety of Collects that can be added for various occasions.

DW:DO was a compromise to ensure I prayed the full Psalter in a month.Ĭompared to the LOTH, I feel like it adds far more variety. I feel guilty since it’s not in my tradition and I attend the Latin Mass, and should pray the Breviary that accompanies that, but I was failing to complete the offices each day and never prayed the Psalter in full. I got the DO:DW CE in October and have loved it. My background is a few years of the LOTH with the Roman Breviary frequently mixed in, the Monastic Diurnal for a few months, and the RB exclusively for another few months.
